In case you didn’t know, when we search for these strange places on Google Maps, they simply appear on the map as blurred, erased, or distorted. It’s truly quite strange! This only deepens the curiosity surrounding these “mysterious” places.

There’s no doubt that Google Maps has become a powerful tool for those who want to explore the world without even leaving their homes. However, there are certain strange places on Google Maps that even they hesitate to reveal in detail.

6 – 2207 Seymour Avenue, Ohio, United States

At this specific address, there is a censored house. The place became quite eerie after housing the victims of the terrible kidnapper Ariel Castro between 2002 and 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio.

In this location, young women Michelle Knight (21), Amanda Berry (16), and Georgina (14) were captured and held captive. They endured unimaginable torments there. It wasn’t until 2013, after 11 years of torture, that one of the victims managed to escape the perpetrator and seek help. The criminal was captured by the police and sentenced to 1000 years in prison.

5 – Moruroa, French Polynesia

Moruroa is an oceanic island located in the southern Pacific Ocean that, for some reason, cannot be fully seen on Google Maps. A significant portion of the island is censored, and it’s believed to be due to the region’s nuclear past.
It’s worth mentioning that between 1966 and 1996, France conducted numerous nuclear tests in Moruroa. This certainly raises the possibility of security concerns for this region, which prevents it from being visible on the map.

4 – Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom

While there are strange places on Google Maps that have a reason to appear blurred or erased, others seemingly have no explanation. This is the case with the mysterious residence on Princeport Street in Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom.

This house remains an enigma, as even former residents or anyone else close by can’t explain why the house is blurred on the platform. It’s yet another unsolved mystery!

3 – Military Base in Greece

When looking for more details about the military base in Greece, located in Athens, we simply come across a completely blurred and pixelated area. This naturally intrigues everyone who has navigated there.

However, there’s no real mystery or anything extraordinary about it. Even though the reason has never been properly explained, it’s most likely that these are locations that require certain protection due to national security concerns. Not everything can be visible to the eyes!

2 – Patio de los Naranjos, Spain

At first glance, Patio de los Naranjos (Orange Tree Courtyard) doesn’t seem to have anything abnormal. However, this charming area located in Almería, Spain, makes it onto our list of strange places on Google Maps because the entire region appears blurred!

When you search for it on the map, it appears with a whitish hue, not allowing any details of its location to be seen. The reason for this image edit is believed to be because the airport serves as a Japanese navy airbase. As such, the location needs to be kept under complete secrecy. It’s quite strange when you open the map and only see this, but the explanation makes sense.

Bonus: North Korea

While it’s not on our list, North Korea is certainly a country that draws significant attention, as everything from there comes with mystery and complete secrecy. If you look closely, you’ll only see city and mountain names. Streets or even commercial points simply don’t appear on the map.
