Lady Driver? Exclusive App For Women’s Mobility

Every day, an increasing number of women are looking for alternative means of transport in all parts of the country. But, more than getting around, women also seek safety, comfort and the convenience of being served by female drivers so that possible embarrassments are avoided.

With this audience in mind, Lady Driver emerged, a transportation app that works similarly to Uber, 99, Cabify and many others. The Lady Driver’s differential is that it was created and entirely thought of by a woman, exclusively for women.

The creator of the app, Gabriela Correa, came up with the idea of ​​offering this type of service after experiencing harassment from a taxi driver. Due to the embarrassment and trauma and thinking about avoiding situations similar to other women, Gabriela created the app that allows only women to be drivers as well as users of the service. Men are accepted in races only if they are accompanying a female user.

For now, Lady Driver was only available in the city of São Paulo and some regions of Rio de Janeiro, but the idea is to expand the service through the app to several other Brazilian cities and states.

According to the team responsible for the Lady Driver app, there is a rigorous selection of drivers, both personal and the cars themselves that will be used in the service. This is one of the ways to offer more security to users, also taking into account their physical integrity.

When registering a user, it is necessary to prove that it really is a woman. Therefore, in addition to the required documents, such as CPF, personal data, the user takes a ‘selfie’ photo to show that the registration really belongs to a woman.

How does Lady Driver work?

The Lady Driver app works very similarly to other transport apps. The user enters the address of the boarding place and the destination address and then the value of the route is shown on the screen, as well as the drivers that are available in the region where she is located.

The entire route is displayed on a map in the app so that the user can follow everything in real time until arriving at the destination. The app is available for download for Android and iOS systems in two versions: Lady Driver Passenger and Lady Driver Driver, just choose the version in which you want to register and follow the instructions.

Despite being innovative, as it is a new application, Lady Driver still has some inconveniences, which should be improved by its developers.  One of the major annoyances of the Lady Driver app is the limited service area, as well as the number of available drivers registered in the app; this often means that a trip is not carried out due to the lack of a driver available.

Other problems presented by the app are some bugs in its own system that end up starting and canceling a race without the user’s request.
